Koreless returns with first solo music after 5+ years with ‘Black Rainbow’, a pumping, anthropomorphic electronic jam that has blood and guts where the wires should be. B-side ‘Moonlight’ is a take on 20th century composer Benjamin Britten’s interlude of the same name, and the result is a blended work of spectral, fizzing horns that meld together both centuries in seamless fashion.

Pure fusion magic. This is easily my album of the year and one of the best albums of the past several years. Truly one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. I’ll be listening to this for years to come. It’s inspiring to see that even at the age of 80 Pharoah Sanders still has so much passion in his playing. Hopefully this isn’t the last we hear from him. A masterpiece within an already very impressive discography. My favorite track is Insect Near Piha Beach, but for some reason I couldn’t select it! Vik Srinivasan

The album that blew me away totally this year, opening up old wounds and comforting when needed. A strong statement fist in the air.
Favorite track: Wildfires but so so many fantastic poetic lyrics and mmmmmusic from the heart to the heart ♥️ The Belgian Mad Cow

The intricate, high frequency percussive touches that adorn Wheele at 2:53 are subtle but expertly balanced. This dancefloor-shattering masterpiece is a suitable alternative to a feather duster when it comes to cleaning your subwoofer. hthomson
